Tasting Notes

Grange is arguably Australia's most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Grange boasts an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951 and clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soils and climates of South Australia.

The 2001 Grange is one of the rare vintages made entirely from Shiraz, alongside 1951, 1952, 1963, 1999, and 2000. Aged for 17 months in American oak and with 14.5% alcohol, it stands out as one of the finest examples of this wine, surpassing the 1998 and 1996 vintages. Deep inky blue-purple in color, it offers an intense bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, chocolate, graphite, and earth. With vibrant acidity, firm tannins, and exceptional concentration, it is a powerful yet well-balanced Shiraz. Over the next 4–5 years, it will soften and is expected to peak between 2010 and 2030+.
